The Fantasticks, written by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, has the distinct honor
of being the longest running musical in American history, as it played for over 42 years.
The story — boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back — is as timeless
and universal as could be. Though it officially closed its curtains on January 13, 2002,
it logged an astonishing 17,163 performances before doing so. Its memory lives on in
every one of Darren's performances.
Here Darren and Siegfried & Roy can be seen in front of the symbolic Fantasticks banner,
which was produced at the beginning of every performance.
